Traurig Transitional Living Center
The only residential setting for brain injury and stroke recovery in CT
About Traurig House
Traurig House, located on our 400-acre Wallingford campus, is Connecticut's only transitional living center for patients recovering from a stroke or brain injury. It offers a welcoming, home-like setting for up to eight residents with programs to support daily living skills and access to outpatient therapies to support the transition from hospital to home. The Traurig program offers rehabilitation that enables residents to regain the communication, cognitive, and life skills they need to return to their homes and communities.

Next Steps
Traurig Patient Success
Recently a 27-year-old male entered Traurig following a traumatic brain injury resulting from a motor vehicle accident.
Upon admission, he was contact guard to close supervision for his ADLs and close supervision for ambulation with a rolling walker. At discharge, he was independent for all ADLs using no assistive device, except when using a straight cane for outside walking. He made gains in every achievable area.
Upon admission, he had difficulty understanding his deficits but progressed, demonstrating excellent kitchen safety awareness and follow-through as staff provided reinforcement. When he left, he stated he better understood his injury and would continue using the tools provided. He had improved ROM in his LUE at discharge, and though he still had work to do, he remained highly motivated. He was discharged home with his father at an intermittent level of supervision.
